How We Work
Garage door repair has a reputation problem, and it is not undeserved. Here is exactly what we commit to, and how to check any company you call — including this one.
What we promise
- Upfront price quoted before any work starts — you approve the number, not a surprise invoice
- Warranty on parts and labor on every repair we perform
- Licensed and insured, working under AZ Tech Services LLC
- Most repairs finished in a single visit — the truck carries the common springs, cables, rollers and opener parts
The price you hear is the price you pay
The most common complaint in this trade is the quote that changes once the technician is standing in your garage. We quote before work starts. If something is found once a panel or a motor housing is open, you get told and you approve it before it happens.
Estimates over the phone are free and are usually accurate, because garage doors fail in a small number of predictable ways. A description of the sound, where the door stops and whether the motor runs is normally enough.
We would rather repair it
Repair is most of our work. A broken spring, a snapped cable, a worn set of rollers or a stripped opener gear on a structurally sound door is worth fixing every time, and we will say so even when replacement would be the larger invoice.
The exceptions are honest ones. An opener made before 1993 has no photo-eye safety sensors and should be replaced rather than repaired. A door with rust through multiple sections and a discontinued panel profile cannot be economically patched. Where it is a genuine question, we give you both numbers.
How to vet any garage door company, including us
This is an industry with real bad actors in it — the bait price advertised at nineteen dollars that becomes six hundred once someone is in your garage is a documented pattern, not a rumour. Four questions filter most of it out:
- Ask for the legal business name and whether they are insured. A real company answers immediately and can send a certificate of insurance. Ours is AZ Tech Services LLC.
- Ask for a price range on the phone before they come out. A company that refuses to discuss any number until a technician is standing in your garage is telling you something.
- Ask where they are based. National lead-generation operations buy local-looking phone numbers and sell your call to whoever bids highest. We are in Westmont and the truck comes from here.
- Ask what the warranty covers and for how long. Parts and labor, in writing, with a stated period.
A tight service area is a feature
We cover fourteen towns within about twenty minutes of Westmont. Clarendon Hills is five minutes, Hinsdale six, Darien seven, Willowbrook eight. Companies advertising the entire Chicago metro are either a network of subcontractors or they are going to be a while. Same-day only means something if the geography supports it.
Specialising in openers
Every garage door company replaces springs. Fewer are genuinely good at openers, which is where most of the diagnostic work in this trade actually lives. A door that reverses at the floor might be a limit setting, a force setting, a dirty photo eye, a worn roller binding in the track, or a door that has gone out of balance — and the repair costs differ by an order of magnitude depending which it is.
Opener and motor replacement is our specialty, which in practice means we diagnose before recommending replacement rather than defaulting to a new unit because it is the simpler sale.
Tell us what the door is doing
A quick description over the phone is usually enough for us to tell you what has failed, what it takes to fix it, and when we can be there. Estimates over the phone are free.
